Tetrahydrocannabivarin
THCV is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid which is similar to the CB1 receptor antagonist rimonabant. It's mainly found in South African and some Asian varieties of Cannabis Sativa, which usually also have a high THC and CBD content, the complex cannabinoid chemistry found in these varieties are considered some of the most useful on the planet. Initial studies have shown THCV be to safe for use by humans, and has particular promise as a highly effective treatment for type 2 diabetes and other related metabolic disorders.

Grinspoon is widely known as the author or co-author of several cannabis-related books. Dr. Grinspoon became interested in marijuana in the 1960s. Grinspoon began studying marijuana in 1967, his intention was to "define scientifically the nature and degree cannabis's danger" but as he reviewed the existing literature on the subject Grinspoon reached the conclusion he and the general public had been misinformed and misled. He has been an out-spoken activist ever since.

Good For Crohn's!
Study Suggests Cannabis
Has Positive Effect On Crohn’s

Is Cannabis The Cure?
What If Cannabis Cured Cancer
This video is the trailer for the documentary film by Len Richmond:
Could the chemicals found in marijuana prevent and even heal several deadly cancers? Discover the truth about this ancient medicine as world-renowned scientists in the field of cannabinoid research illustrate their truly mind-blowing discoveries.
'What if Cannabis Cured Cancer' explains how we are all born with a form of marijuana already in our bodies, and when pot is consumed, the endocannabinoids inside us, along with any cannabinoids we ingest, fit together like a key in a lock. Thereby promoting the death of cancer cells without harming the body’s healthy cells.
A powerful and eye-opening film about the future of cannabis — and perhaps even the future of medicine.
Anandamide
N-arachidonoylethanolamide
Anademide is an endogenous cannabinoid neurotransmitter, which is also known as the human body's own cannabis. The name is taken from the Sanskrit word ananda, which means "bliss, delight", and amide. It was isolated and its structure was first described by Czech analytical chemist Lumír Ondřej Hanuš and American molecular pharmacologist William Anthony Devane in 1992. Anandamide has been shown to effect the central system, the brain, and the periphery, in other parts of the body. These effects are mediated primarily by CB1 cannabinoid receptors in the central nervous system and brain, as well as by the CB2 cannabinoid receptors in the periphery. Additionally, studies have shown Anandamide to play a key role in the regulation of appetite, pain and memory as well as having important anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.

Challenging South Africa's Cannabis Laws!
Dagga Couple Says South African
Cannabis Laws Are Unconstitutional
On Thursday the 12th of August 2010 at 2am the home of Jules Stobbs and Mytrle Clarke was invaded by the South African police force! They were arrested and imprisoned. The charge on the docket: possession and dealing in Dagga - The South African name for the Cannabis Plant.
They were released on bail, and were subsequently left with a choice between: Paying a large amount of money to make the case “disappear” or challenge the constitutionality of South Africa's Cannabis prohibition laws. They have chosen to take the prohibition laws to the Constitutional Court!
In South Africa the way to do this is to appeal to the Constitutional Court. They started off in their local Magistrate’s Court, where the Magistrate granted their appeal and transferred the case to the High Court. At the hearing in the High Court therir application was granted, and they are now preparing for the Constitutionality hearing on the 4th of October 2011.
If successful, their case will be heard by The South African Constitutional Court sometime next year.

We Call It The ECS!
What Is This Endocannabiniod System Anyway?
The endocannabinoid system refers a naturally occurring system of chemicals and their receptors found in the human body, among other things it produces a number of cannabis like neurotransmitters that are involved in a variety of physiological processes including appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory; it also mediates the effects of cannabinoids that enter the body through cannabis consumption.
The Original THC Doctor
Raphael Mechoulam
Raphael Mechoulam, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Medicine
In 1964 he became the first person to isolate Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol and was successful in it's structure elucidation and total synthesis. He was also as successful with a number of others cannabinoids including cannabidiol and cannabigerol. Another one of his research projects led to the discovery of the first described endocannabinoid; Anandamide, which was then isolated and characterized by two of his postdoctoral researchers Lumír Ondřej Hanuš and William Devane.

Science Daily: It's Good For The Brain!
Cannabinoids Protect Brain From Aging
Researchers from the Universities of Bonn and Mainz have discovered a mechanism that seems to protect the brain from aging. Experiments have shown that by switching off the cannabinoid-1 receptor with gene technology, brains begin to show signs of rapid degeneration. This means that the CB1 signal system has a protective effect for nerve cells.
